To be honest, based on my research, it's almost impossible to see thousands of stars at night, but there are many nights you can't actually see even if the sky isn't as cloudy as you think. If the galaxy and the constellation are viewed as one object, the stars cannot be counted separately. In my experience, you can see about 200 stars all night long. The 6,000 stars normally visible to the human eye are as dark as yours, so don't think this number is too small. It can only be seen in the darkest places in the world.
